It’s hard to believe we’re almost at the half-way point in the 2007-2008 school year. It’s been a very mild year and before we know it, we’ll be making plans for the end-of-the-year retirement dinner.
Speaking of dinners, our winter dinner meeting at Braddock’s Tavern was a huge success. About 65 MEA members came out on January 8th, to join Deb Syer and Ellen Willoughby from UniServe, as our “Howie Mandels”, in playing three games reviewing the legalities of collective bargaining and the details of our contract. We all had fun and they did a fantastic job of reminding us how we have benefited from our association’s bargaining for us over the years. Be sure to check out the photos of the dinner Maureen has posted on the website. By the way, that “Deal or No Deal” gal in the sexy pink dress is none other than your president – me!!
MEA is happy to announce the “Sick Leave Sell Back” program will be presented to the Medford Board of Education for approval on January 28. Mark your calendars for the retirement dinner (tentative date – Tuesday, June 10) which will honor about 20 of our colleagues.
I would like to wish everyone the best in 2008. May the year bring you good health, happiness, and success in school. Your continued support and participation in MEA remains appreciated.
